Book review #3: Michael Vey: Rise of the Elgen

Michael Vey: Rise of the Elgen is an action packed book by Richard Paul Evans. Michael Vey and the Electroclan are heading home after successfully shutting down the Elgen academy. they find out Michael's mom is in Peru by downloading information from grace, one of the electric kids after escaping there kidnappers. The Electroclan board a flight to the Amazon jungle to find Michael's mom. Meanwhile Hatch is preparing to take over the world by calling all his guards to his compound in Peru. After arriving in Peru, The Electroclan take a long journey through the jungle to the compound. They sneak in to the compound by using stolen uniforms to break Michael's mom out. Thanks to Michael's friends they were able to find her and Tanner, another electric kid being held prisoner. When they all try to escape Micheal and the group got separated and Michael was alone in the jungle. The second book ends when Michael gets kidnapped by Amazon tribesman. It leaves you with a cliff hangar!

The theme for this book is "Never Give Up". There are three examples in this book. The first one is when they first got back to Idaho, The Elgen were watching them."'We're being watched.'" (pg- 18) They could have got scare and given up but they didn't. The second example is when they were kidnapped and they could have given up right there, but they didn't. The third example is when Michael got captured and the rest of the Electroclan escaped. The rest of the Electroclan could have given up on him, but they didn't. These are the reasons why the theme is "Never Give Up"

I think other 7th graders should definitely read this book. It had lots of action. Also if you like superhero type books. Also if you like good guy/bad guy books. This is probably the best series I've ever read. If you like this book then I suggest you read the next one, Michael Vey: Battle of the Amphere
